Dr. Isabelle “Izzy” Gerbatsch grew up in San Diego California, she moved to the Midwest to complete her veterinary degree at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After earning her degree in 2017, Dr. Izzy was selected for the U.S. Army Health Professionals Scholarship and commissioned as a Captain into the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps. This appointment included a one-year internship at Fort Carson, Colorado focusing on veterinary medicine, public health and leadership. Here she gained valuable experience in internal medicine, surgery, dentistry, and public health.  Throughout her four years of service, she provided veterinary care to military working dogs, service member pets, managed a hospital and trained Soldiers in preparation for deployment. She also worked at a local emergency hospital. After retiring from the military Dr. Izzy moved back to San Diego and worked at a veterinary urgent care and general practice in La Jolla.  She moved to Fresno this summer with her husband, daughter and two dogs- BB8 and Han Solo. She especially enjoys internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and dermatology. In her free time, she loves hiking in the surrounding mountains near Fresno, spending time at the lakes and bike riding with her family.
