Our Services

Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are closely monitored during all anesthetic procedures.

Bathing: Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available.

Behavioral Counseling: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.

Boarding: We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.

Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and oral surgery. We are also pleased to offer the services of Dr Pat Frost, a board-certified veterinary dentist, who comes down as-needed from Portland, OR.

Dr. Frost can do root-canal therapy (endodontics) on pets, as well as difficult extractions, oral surgery, and can develop treatment plans for difficult cases, such as stomatitis in cats or malocculsions.

Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.

Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.

Doggie Day Care:  A full-day program, available Monday through Friday, with drop off as early as 7:00 AM and pick-up by 6:00 PM.  Provides mental stimulation, physical exercise and socialization in a constantly supervised indoor, climate-controlled setting.   All dogs are assessed for their ability to play with a group of dogs before being admitted to the group play area.  Bathing, grooming, boarding and veterinary services available for day care participants.

Echocardiograms: Heart ultrasounds can also be completed. This is very important in determining what dynamic processes are truly occuring inside the heart and tells us about the size and function of heart chambers and valves. More complex cases requiring a cardiologist can be referred and are recommended in congenital heart cases and those requiring more specialized workup. A board-certified radiologist also reviews these cases and will recommend a cardiologist review when needed. Event or Holter monitors can also be used to record electrical conduction of the heart while the pet resumes normal activities.

Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.

Emergency Care: Please call our main telephone number for instructions for after-hour emergencies.

Grooming: Our full-service grooming area is especially designed to meet your pets needs.  Experienced groomers offer a range of specialized services to pamper your pet. Services include bathing and expert styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and special drying cages.  Services may be combined with day care or boarding for a full "spa" experience.  Especially popular is the FURminator® shed-less treatment ... a special anti-shedding treatment that dramatically reduces the mess and clean up of unwanted pet hair. The FURminator® is a patented tool that stops the shedding where it begins- in the undercoat, removing  loose hair while leaving your pet with a shiny and healthy coat.  This treatment is especially recommended for allergy sufferers, as it greatly reduces the volume of pet hair in the environment.

Individualized Flea Control Programs: We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.

Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

Pet Identification: We offer resQ microchip implants that can be easily done on your pet during a routine visit or while sedated for a dentistry or surgical procedure. The resQ microchip is universally read by all microchip scanners, making it essential for all pets to avoid being lost or stolen. We also offer Tattoo-A-Pet identification numbering as well to help identify your pet. Multiple forms of identification are recommended, including identifying collar tags.

Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.

Radiology Services:Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders.

Rehabilitation: Pet Medical Center and Spa is leading Central California in offering comprehensive canine rehabilitation services for pets recovering from surgery, injury, illness, and deconditioning to improve mobility, manage pain, improve strength, and restore function. Services include three levels of care, including wellness and conditioning, a comprehensive arthritis care program and intensive, individualized rehabilitation services.  Pet Medical Center rehabilitation services are offered in consultation with a physical therapist, administered on-site by our staff and supervised by our veterinarians.  Aquatic exercise in Pet Medical Center's state-of- the-art Ferno Canine Hydro-treadmill & Swim System, the only in Fresno, has been quite popular among rehabilitation clients, as well as providing conditioning for canine athletes. Services are available for our clients and referrals are accepted from other veterinarians, as well.

Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.

Ultrasound Services: We are capable of performing abdominal ultrasounds (sonograms) to determine what the internal organs look like. This is a painless test which does not require sedation, and is very similar to pregnancy sonograms done in women. Ultrasound complements radiology yet is much more sensitive and specific for determining what may be occurring in the abdomen. It is much less invasive than performing exploratory surgery and many times, biopsies can be obtained using ultrasound guidance, thereby eliminating the need for surgery. All ultrasound studies and accompanying radiographs are reviewed and interpreted by a board-certified radiologist to give your pet the most accurate diagnosis possible.
